“Baggy, (usually) black, cool” 

I do a lot of thrifting, and I like to look for more classic pieces that will stay in my wardrobe for a long time. I’m also interested in smaller accessories and stuff to change things up, and I try to gather inspiration from Pinterest and my friends. 

Nowadays, I get my clothes almost entirely through thrifting and I have all my favorite spots that I like to go to in Helsinki. It's usually easier to get good pieces from places where people are selling their own clothes, rather than stuff that they've dumped and given to UFF or Fida. Because then the people who are selling them automatically think that they still have value. So, places like Relove, Flea, or Punavuoren Patina are usually my go-tos because it’s also easier to find stuff that's your size, if you find someone who has a rack that matches your size and style. I've started looking on Vinted nowadays as well, but it's difficult to get a good algorithm. 

For me, it's been a long process, but it's about trying to build confidence through style. I've been able to mostly find the kinds of silhouettes, colors, and shapes that I feel are not necessarily the ones that look good on me, but the ones that I feel confident in and what I feel like I look cool in. 

One word would definitely be baggy. This is a rare day when I'm not wearing all black, so usually, it's black. And I feel like one word that I'm trying to go for is cool, but I feel like I'm not all the way there yet. But that's kind of my style aspiration - to be cool rather than cute or pretty.

“Comfy, practical, mix and match” 

I usually just buy clothes that are affordable and also something that can match my closet. Throughout the years, I have tried different things: some are weird and some are nice. I just keep the nice ones and then mix and match things usually. 

I go to some thrift stores, but I also got some of my clothes from my friends. I think I also got a couple from Sonia. There are also small second-hand events by the art department where people sell their clothes. One was held around Kipsari, where I got some clothes. 

I think it's the same for me (as Sonia) and what fits with my body type, because I come from Thailand and usually Thai people are very small and slim. So, there's a certain standard that they usually go with, and I can't really follow those. There was a period of time when I was confused, and when I explored a bit more, I got to know what I was like. 

I don't really know how I would describe my style. I guess comfy. For example, I wear these shoes so I can walk in the snow. Practical. Mix and match with my closet, easy to switch around.

“Smart on Mondays, comfy towards the weekend” 

I get inspiration for my style from probably just copying my friends, honestly. We all sort of dress the same. Maybe occasionally Pinterest. 

My clothes are 95% secondhand, and occasionally, like these jeans, I had to buy those new. 

Having my own style does not mean much to me. I only really care about being presentable. I don't care so much about following norms - I'd rather just be seen as looking presentable. 

(How would you describe your style shortly, in one, two, three words?) Well, what day is it today? On Mondays, smart. Maybe more comfortable? Towards the weekend, we get more comfy.

“Pinterest, monochrome, yksityiskohdat” 

Mua inspiroi erilaiset muodot. Mä tykkään yhdistellä eri tyylisiä vaatteita ja vaatteiden muotoja, ja saan tosi paljon inspiraatiota somesta.  

Mä shoppailen secondhandia. Koitan löytää kaikki, mitä käytän secondhandina, et aika paljon Vintedissä ja sitten Fleassa ja Relovessa etenkin. UFFeissa käyn myös aina joskus. 

Mulle oma tyyli merkitsee aika paljon. Vähän silleen, että jos mulla ei oo mun mielestä hyvä outfit päällä, niin mulla on huono päivä. Mä tykkään tosi paljon pukeutua ja vähän näyttää itteeni. Yleensä koitan saada jonkun ainakin pienen tai hauskan yksityiskohdan joka asuun, vaikka aina se ei toteudu. 

Ehkä kuvailisin mun tyyliä jollain Pinterest-sanalla, koska mä koitan olla omaperäinen, mut mulla on todella paljon tällaisia some-Pinterest-viboja mun asuissa. Ja tosi usein myös monochrome, että aika paljon samanvärisiä vaatteita.

“Hätäinen metsästäjä-keräilijä” 

Inspiraation tyyliin saan kirpsakasta talvesta, joka pakottaa laittaan tarpeeksi juttuja päälle. Mikä on halvinta, sitä laitetaan päälle. Ei mulla mitään niinku inspistä, mä laitan päälle, jos tuntuu hyvältä - sit se näyttää hyvältä. 

Lähenee 95 %:a käytettynä hankkimista. 

Mä tykkään UFFin femman päivistä, takki femman. Tää oli Punavuoren Patinasta femman tai sinnepäin. En muista, mutta hankin vaatteita silleen vähän mihin sattuu, missä kävelen, missä satun olemaan. 

(Tyylin merkityksestä) En mä voi alastikaan täällä kulkea.

“Vanha setä Skotlannista” 

Ihan rehellisesti sanottuna mulla ei oo liikaa mitään inspiraation lähteitä. Musta tuntuu, että mä oon vaan aina nauttinut tässä maailmassa kaikesta vanhasta ja sama pätee myös vaatteisiin. Mä ostan melkein kaiken käytettynä ja tuntuu aina tosi hyvältä löytää muutamalla eurolla joku oikein vanha ja laadukas verme.

Ostan silleen 80 % käytettynä ja 20 % uutena - uutena lähinnä pakolliset. Boksereita ja sukkia en oo vielä lähtenyt ostaa käytettynä. 

Mul on aik selkeä kaava et housut, neule, tämmöset perus, mitkä vaihtuu melkein päivittäin, niin pääosin UFFilta tai sitten Fidasta, eli kumminkin tämmöisiä ketjukirppareita. Ja sitten vähän kalliimmat päällysvaatteet, kengät tai toi takki on semmoisesta vanhasta miesten muotiliikkeestä kuin Kaartinen & Kuusela tuolta Töölöstä. 

Mä arvostan vaatteissa pitkän aikavälin kestävyyttä. Oon tosi paljon vastaan tätä nykyistä ylikulutustrendiä ja pikamuotia, niin tykkään käyttää tämmöisiä vaatteita, jotka on ajattomia ja näyttänyt hyvältä 100 vuotta sitten, 50 vuotta sitten ja mitkä näyttää hyvältä 200 vuoden päästä.
